Photoshoot #2 Plan

In the second photo session, I intend to continue the subject of film stills in the confined space of a photo studio. In it, I want to show how an independent, strong man enters the story - adequately to the woman from the first photo session. However, when confronted with a woman, she becomes submissive and cannot cope with his superiority. She surrenders to him, and he, using his advantage, takes control of her, unable to restrain his extreme behaviours. The aim is to show the passion between two lovers artistically.
*All photo sessions were made for the project carried out at Wakefield College with the use of film stills style.

Planning the photoshoot, I need to consider:

Location:

A photo studio on the grounds of Wakefield College.
Prior agreement with the project promoter about the availability of the studio for the photo session.

Equipment:

The equipment I need to complete the session is:
- Canon 5D mark iv camera
- Manfrotto Tripod
- Lenses: 50mm, 70-200mm and 85mm
- Shutter Release Remote Controller
- another tripod for camera flash
- flash umbrella
- Speedlite

Technique:

To achieve the desired effect, I will try to use studio lighting using a flash. I want to use my recent favourite Butterfly lighting. I am counting on props in the studio that I can use for my photos. I will use the limited workplace to achieve an artistic effect.

Contact sheet from the photoshoot:

This photo session evoked extreme emotions in me. On the one hand, in the post-production process, I was able to work more creatively, and as a consequence, I was satisfied. However, during the shooting, I encountered some difficulties, such as problems with light and no new creative ideas about composition.
Referring to the light: initially my idea was to take pictures with a flash, but the one I brought to the session did not want to work - as if it was incompatible with my camera. I have had similar situations with it in the past - sometimes it worked, and other times it did not. Due to these technical problems, I will have to consider the help of a specialist in the field of repair or the selection of a new one. To deal with this problem, I wanted to use the flash lamps available in the studio, but unfortunately, I could not connect them. I ended up betting on softboxes, a completely different light type. As the studio was only available for a specific time, decisions had to be made quickly.
Speaking of the lack of ideas, I could imagine what the frames would look like before the session, but I needed more to make them diverse. Therefore, in the future, planning sessions must not only be based on equipment and locations and own inner feelings but also specific selective examples, maybe even drawn on a piece of paper.
As a bonus, I will use the photos I took as a test, and they turned out to be a presentation of the liminal space technique.

Ligtroom / Photoshop:

In the post-production process, I wanted to experiment. In addition to the standard steps, i.e. lens correction, distortion correction, and Patch tool, I used the double exposure technique, overlapping two photos. Thanks to this, I could show the artistic idea I had been thinking about earlier. Using this technique would not be possible without the help of my teachers - Joanna Wiseman and Solomon Reynolds - for which I thank you very much. At this point, I cannot omit my colleague from the group - Lukas - for showing me that such a method exists - thank you, too.
